On the heals of Hurricane Gustav came Hurricane Ike. Ike made landfall in Galveston/Houston, yet the huge size of the storm swept a storm surge as far away as coastal Mississippi. Coastal Louisiana experienced storm surges that flooded areas in lower Jefferson and Terrebonne Parishes. Also, Ike's storm surge impacted communities along southeastern Louisiana's tidal lakes.

Laplace Flooding
Here are some photos of the flooding in Laplace caused by storm surge from Hurricane Ike. Even though southeast Louisiana was spared a direct hit, we experienced a significant storm surge.
